Today Charlotte, our big chocolate lab passed away. Charlotte was Matt’s first Valentine’s Day present from me in 2002. She was born the day he graduated from college. She was an eight year old puppy and a fetching machine, full of energy. She will be GREATLY missed by our family. Greatly. I’ve lost many great dogs, and it surprises me how it never gets any easier. There are so many things about her that I’m going to have to get used to not seeing or experiencing. She was a sweet sweet moose dog.

bar, basil, big moth
The bar preparation is coming along. I can’t say that I’m really excited about it or very nervous yet, right now all the studying just feels like a means to an end. There are quite a few interesting folks in my bar review classes. For example, Lady 1- She eats rice cakes, soybeans, and either a few pieces of dried or fresh fruit. But she is the first person to hit the door when we get our 10 minute break to go smoke at least 2 cigarettes.
I pretty sure that one, does not counter act the other.
Also here is some basil from the garden that I picked the other day.
It is now yummy pesto that I have eaten on toasted panni’s for dinner and lunch. I have also hung some to dry.
Here is something else I found on the farm on Saturday. We were moving this goat thingy (yes, Matt is getting goats. That story will have to be told later) and I see this gigantic moth on the ground. Matt picked it up and put it on the tree. This sucker was as big as my whole hand spread out.
Apparently is must have just come out of the cocoon. Matt’s Dad told me what it was, but I can’t remember. All I know is that it was big, and I had never seen anything like it before so I thought I’d share.
I guess I’ll get back to my studying.

And to think, I thought I'd have more free time.
Postings will be infrequent and probably regarding random things for the next few weeks.
Bar review is pretty time consuming, but if you look I’ve added a new little ticker that counts down to the Bar exam. I thought that I would have free time by not working, but that was obviously a mistake. I’m in bar review from 9-12:30 then I get home about 1:30, go to the gym, get my butt home and study/review/take practice exam questions from about 3 to 6 or 7 pm. Right now I’m adding review material to my ipod so I can listen to it while I’m at the gym or whenever.
Matt is working on the farm A LOT. They have been cutting hay for a few days now. He has a sunburned neck, forearms, top of feet (because he wears chaco sandals for almost everything despite my warnings that one day he is going to lose a toe), and two lobster knee caps.
I’ll leave you with a picture of one of the calves. They are getting so big. Until next time…

let's hope I can tap into my daytime potential
Next week begins my Bar review, and I’m actually pretty pumped. I’m excited at the change and being able to sit in a law class during the day, when my brain hasn’t been completely fried by the day at work. Last week I took a test from the hours of 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. At the end of which, I just wanted to wave the white flag of defeat and I swear I heard a bugle playing taps for the expirations of the last few brain cells I depleted. The next day when I awoke from my exam hangover, I did begin to ponder about how terrible the 2 day Bar exam is going to be. The only solace I could find in the situation is that I will not be taking the exam at 6:30 p.m. after a full day at work. I’ll get to take it in the morning, while my mind is still fresh. For four years now, I’ve been taking difficult exams in the evening hours when most folks are comfortably at home unwinding from the day. Focusing on one thing is going to be a nice change.

Kittens
So needless to say, if you are in search of some melt your heart cute kittens, we have 4 that are in need of good homes. They say that you can’t get anything for free, but you sure can. You can get your very own little snuggly friend.
Aren't these the cutest little lap warmers you've ever seen?
