Waiting for Schlomo to grow mo and show mo

Everything is going great over here with Me, Matt and the Baby (we call it Schlomo). Somewhere right around 11 and 12 weeks I got to feeling a lot better. In fact, when I went to the Dr. today, I told her that I hoped that it was still in there. It is! And its little heart sounds fantastic. Like a little train chugging along. We are doing the 3D/4D ultrasound this weekend to see whether we are adding a boy or a girl to the American population. I think it's a boy, but I have no scientific reason for this. I just think it is. My belly is still a little deceiving. I still just look pudgy. At night, and depending on what clothes I'm wearing, I have a belly, but nothing that really says "I'm having a baby". I'm not complaining at all. It will show up in time and it won't go away in the morning. Also, (and no surprise here) the Dr. said that the baby is probably going to be pretty long. Schlomo's length has been ahead of schedule and we haven't even really gotten in to the major growing stage.

As far as names go, we have started making some lists. There are quite a few options on both lists, but we haven't really started narrowing them down yet. Matt doesn't want to start really thinking about them, and deciding, until we know what it is. We have some favorites, and we have decided that we are going to mull them over for quite a while. My mother hates most of the names we've thrown out for either sex. Somebody is not going to like the name, no matter what. So Prince Michael the ? or George Foreman the ? it is :)

and lastly... Matt and I made our first trip to the Clarksville Greenway. It was absolutely awesome. We had a great time. Matt, the baby and I rode our bikes the whole 6.7 miles (the baby and I slept good last night). I can't wait to see how much more is added in the next phases.

Here is my attempt at taking a picture of myself in the mirror with a belly.

It was at night and I had a prominent belly for the evening. I told Matt "quick take a picture. I look more pregnant and less chubby." Matt did try to take one for me, but he was seated lower than me, and took it from the bottom up. Yikes! It looked scary! So I did the ever popular phone and mirror shot.

shaky sheep cam

Matt gave me a tiny little video camera from Christmas this year.
We have had a ton of fun with it already. Here is a very rattled and shaky video of the frenzy that ensues at feeding time with the goats and sheep.

Don’t poke babies

My bosses' soon to be 4 year old daughter often comes by work. I love seeing her adorable face and hearing her adorable little voice. The wife attorney I work for was pregnant with her when I first started working here. After she was born, they would bring her to the office and I remember holding her while her Mom went to court, stepped out, or just needed a second to work on something. There was one incident (only one) that I remember well, where I was supposed to watch her for an hour or so while I answered the phones and what not. Well baby was not happy, not at all, and SCREAMED the entire time. I basically locked the doors, ignored the phone, and rocked her for the entire hour. Of course she fell asleep about 10 minutes before her Mom and Dad came back from the CLE they were attending and they thought everything had went smoothly. I had to explain the reality of the situation and that we should probably go check the voicemail to see if there were any really important messages.

Anyhow… earlier this week she came to the office and decided to spend her time with me in my office. In my lap to be more specific. Well, I know she had been told before the Ms. Shelby has a baby in her belly, and I decided to ask her about that. She did a few "why's" and then commenced poking at my belly with her fingers. To which I told her "don't poke my baby." And we giggled.

A few minutes later, the secretary came back to see her and tickled her. She said, "Hey there's a baby in my belly, and don't poke my baby!" Needless to say, there was a whole lot of laughter.

We had a happy holiday and are hoping for a good new year!

Well we had a wonderful Christmas this year. It came up on me pretty quick and I feel like I didn't get near the things done I had wanted too, but we had a good one. This year I sewed Matt and I Christmas Stockings. My Aunt embroidered our names on them for me. When I went to drop them off, my Grandmother said that I must have been expecting quite a lot in my stocking because they were huge! I think they turned out pretty dang cute.

I'll have to make another one next year for the baby. Oh, yeah… You heard me. Matt and I are expecting our first baby this summer. I'm a little over 12 weeks and have started feeling much better. I'm less tired than I was and I pinpointed a prenatal vitamin as the culprit for some of my nausea . We are super excited. We've heard the heartbeat and seen the little peanut on an ultrasound. As soon as it popped up on the screen, I said, "Oh look Matt! It already has your pot belly!" and he returned with, "Oh yeah… Well it has your enormous head!" but everything looked good. Baby is growing. As soon as I have a belly worth sharing, I'll post a picture. Right now I mostly just look chubby.

Matt and I wish everyone a wonderful 2010! It's going to be a big year for us!
