Cow

So Margaux and I had a discussion about milk coming from a cows boobie while looking at the cattle/cow magazine. She proceeded to lick the picture of the cow udder and tell me how much she loves milk. Going to be an interesting next couple months.

Nearing the end

I have been so sick the past two weeks. This week is week two and I feel quite a bit better than last week. I can see why they have signs up at the OB office that children under the age of 4 are not allowed to visit during the cold and flu months. However... I am really bummed that Margaux will not be able to come at all to the hospital to see the baby. I'm going to miss her so much. We will have to try to do something special for her when we come home from the hospital with baby boy.

36 weeks
The girls threw me a surprise little sprinkle last week and we received some of the sweetest and most necessary items to help bring home baby boy. I'm getting pretty anxious to meet him.

I've been trying to plan ahead, but I don't think I'm going to be able to plan for everything. I have some things that will have me checking in here at the office. We will be moving. We have Christmas coming up. There's just a lot of things on the plate but we will make it all work. I'm having a hard time believing that Thanksgiving is next week. Where did the month of November go?

In my planning ahead I had worked on Margaux's little gifts for her friends. We don't really buy all our friends and their kids Christmas presents. We usually just bake each other something and do something really small for the kiddos. I found a pin on pinterest for bath crayons. (here's the link). I had been putting the project off for fear of a huge clean up afterwards. However, I looked at the stuff last night and decided I was tired of looking at it and went for it. Super easy! and the clean up... not much at all. I'm not sure what I was so worried about? It's soap for goodness sake. How hard is it to clean up soap? I'll have to try them out in the tub. I tried them on the stove top and they didn't leave a mark so the kids may just be getting some red and green glycerin soap, unless I feel like melting them down again.
step 1: put glycerin soap in microwave safe container. I used a bowl first but then went for the pyrex measuring cup because the bowl was hard to pour into the molds.

step 2: microwave for 30 seconds at a time until liquid.

step 3: add food coloring

step 4: pour into molds

step 5: the easiest clean up ever while allowing the molds cool a bit.

step 6: place the molds in the fridge for a few minutes to finish up hardening process wait about 5 minutes and pop those bad boys out.

Our life in pictures

Well, I'm now 34 weeks pregnant with Baby boy. He does have names, but I'm just not set on any of them. I REALLY like Noah. But I also REALLY like Collin for a little red headed boy. I just have a mental picture of this little boy having red hair and feel that if he does... He's my Collin. However... I'm usually wrong about these things. The middle name will be Gary after Matt's brother (and father).

Margaux was a a little lamb (little lamb, little lamb) for Halloween this year. She was going to have to be a lamb or a kitty because she loves those two animals so much. Mommy has been in such a terrible funk lately so we didn't go way out for Halloween this year. By the end of the evening the kid was passed out cold and snoring. I cut her out of the costume, changed her diaper, put on her jams and with barely even a disturbance in her sleeping. I made her costume (fleece like dress) out of cheap-o fabric and her hat out of a sweater from goodwill for .99. I would have painted her nose black, but she was a bit of a bear and it wasn't worth the fight.

The house is coming right along. In fact after I got settled from Halloween last night I worked on house figures and specifications for meeting with the cabinet maker today. Matt and I also had a confusing discussion about where to put the faucet for the master bath tub that made my head spin. We now have a front door as you can see and below is the fireplace. Matt changed his mind at the last minute and said he wanted a thru fireplace that could be enjoyed in both the sunroom and family room. I'm glad he did because it is going to be really nice. The cut out above is for the TV we haven't purchased yet. I believe I know what Mommy and Daddy are buying each other for Christmas.

The brick layer will be begin on the brick probably next week. That should take about 3 weeks I've been told. We have a lot of stuff to brick. The plumber has been there this week and the heating and air folks have begun the duct work. Soon there will be more digging for them to lay the piping for our geothermal heating and air unit.

Grand Tour

As some of you know we are in the process of building a house. On my facebook page I have posted several pictures of the building process. The amount of decisions have been overwhelming this week. I think I finally have chosen where all the plugs, switches, and lights should be. All of these decisions made while trying to consider and picture cabinets we don't have, ovens we don't have, beds, furniture, and appliances we don't have. And all their placements of course. whew! It was a lot. On Friday I had the mission of finding bathtubs and a fireplace. Bath tubs... check. Fireplace... I'll have a check next to it by monday. Today we looked at TV's and gadget for placing the TV above the fireplace. Had to get the dimensions for whatever size TV we might plan to have one day. Then we went to look at flooring and prices for hardwood and tile. Now... to decide which rooms to put those two in and how much will it all cost, and will it be in our budget?

Anyhow... here is the grand tour as of this evening.

Ocktoberfest

Saturday my husband wanted to go to Ocktoberfest in historic Germantown Nashville. Margaux had a blast. She loved all the dogs and the people and music. We were stopped frequently for folks to comment on the red hair. One of the bands played "tomorrow" and announced her as the cutest red head and an Annie look alike. As we were leaving meltdown ensued, but we were all ready to go.

30 weeks

30 Weeks with Baby Boy

Well... here it is 10 weeks and counting. I go to the doctor next week and I have worked all weekend to start making room in our bedroom for the bassinet and some of baby boys things. I'm going to keep at it because I know as bad as I ache now... Unfortunately... I'm probably going to ache worse in the next few weeks.
I have been way more emotional this pregnancy and I think some parts of it are due to increased discomfort so early. Belly and "My your big" comments have bothered me tremendously. I've bit my tongue, but the lady at the court house that said, "I can't imagine what your going to look like in 10 more weeks," almost got a taste of the attitude I'm controlling. Most the time I just say "yeah... I'm big" and keep going. I hate the question, "When are you due?" because I never know if the next response is going to make me want to punch someone. I wonder if the District Attorney would make me burn my one Pre-trial diversion if I did?

Baby Boy is growing and so is Mommy

The bump is much bigger and has a much different shape with this baby boy than it did with Margaux. I’ve passed my glucose test this time on the first time and I’m quite glad I have avoided the horrible three hour test that I had to do with Margaux. Speaking of Margaux, everyone asks what she thinks about the baby and she really doesn’t have a clue. She will rub Mommy’s belly and say baby brother, but then she will rub daddy’s belly and say daddy’s baby too. She knows what babies are for sure. She has met my friend Sabrina’s new baby Lilianna and she definitely knows what a baby is. Margaux is rough on the belly. Often she will blop down on it. Elbow it. All out ram into it. My delicate little flower.
Mommy is not enjoying pregnancy the second go round as much as I did the first. I have had plantar fasciitis. Pretty uncomfortable back pain, headaches, nausea, dizziness, and digestive problems. All stuff I never had with Margaux. Yeah I was uncomfortable the last month, but who isn’t at that point, but never early on did I complain with her.
We haven’t decided on a name yet. We have three and I’m leaning more towards two than the one. I think I’ll have to see him before I know. I just picture if he has red hair one name may be more fitting than another. I keep telling Matt he may be the odd man out in a family full of redheads. I just really think he’s going to be redheaded, but I’m usually wrong. I thought Margaux was going to be a boy and she was a girl. I thought she was going to have dark hair like her dad and she is redheaded like me. I thought this baby was going to be a girl, but it’s a boy. So… he’ll probably have dark hair.
Our new house is coming along. They have done the block for the basement and we should see framing start in the next week or two if this rain will every stop. I doubt we will be in by the time the new baby shows up, but it shouldn’t be to long after. There are so many things about the new house that I look so forward to. More than one toilet in the house (this is a biggie!!!). A bathtub, a pantry, a garage, a laundry room, space. It’s going to be so nice.

Never ceases to amaze me

The things my two year old can whine and cry for when she's exhausted. For example, I have heard the following. "I need milk, I need to watch the kitties, (this is her word for aristocats), I need a lunchbox."
A lunchbox really... I say it is definitely time for bed.

Margaux's day

Well for the first time in quite awhile Margaux has been hit with allergy crud and congestion. Hopefully she'll get through this pretty quickly. This morning, with all her congestion she enjoyed one of her favorite things. Watching Poppa feed the cows from Mommy and Daddy's bedroom window.

Margaux also used the potty for the first time, all on her own after her bath tonight. She got out of the tub and walked her naked little booty over to the chair and sat down. Then she peed and told me. I quit trying to get her to use the potty a while ago. She just wasn't interested in it. So I quit asking her to even sit on it. Tonight it was all her, I was pretty pumped.

Whats around the bend.

Well, we are now at 22 weeks in the pregnancy of baby boy Silvey. This pregnancy has been very different than Margaux. I have trouble catching my breath, I feel sickly sometimes when I eat or haven’t eaten in a while, I was nauseated much further into the pregnancy. I get dizzy easily.  He moves around much more than Margaux did. My belly and body look different than Margaux. With Margaux I grew wider and then grew out. This baby I have grown outwards and much bigger. I noticed last night I still have a waist. I lost my waist with Margaux first thing, before My belly started to grow. Maybe my hips have just widened making the illusion that I have a waist. Who knows.

We haven’t made any decisions on names. I have 3 first names picked out and I float between them. Part of me thinks I may have to wait till I meet him and see his face.

Margaux is not really aware of what is going on. Sometimes she says there is a baby in Mommy’s belly, but she really doesn’t know what all is going on. I believe she is establishing pecking order though. The other night she and her daddy laid their heads on the baby, talked to the baby, patted the belly. Then Margaux stood up and slapped the heck out of my belly. I guess she’s making sure brother knows who’s boss.

We are actually about to really begin on building this house. Hopefully we will break ground this month. At this point I don’t have much hopes for being in the house by the time the baby boy arrives, but it shouldn’t be too long after. I’m sure it is going to be stressful. I looked at Matt the other day and said, “when your not working, your going to be working. And that is the way it is going to be for the both of us for the next few months. It’s going to suck, we are going to get pissed about it, but that’s just the way its going to have to be until this house gets done.”

Pray we don’t kill each other :) I'm sure that this baby will keep us motivated and focused.

2 things to celebrate

Well, last weekend we celebrated two things. Margaux turned two years old and we found out what the gender of baby number 2 is.

I’ll start with the first one. Margaux turned two years old. Can you believe it has been that long? She went for her check up and she is 36 inches tall and just over 30 lbs. She is advanced in language and social skills. She told her pediatrician about going to the beach and seeing the fish. Needless to say, we were able to put a check next to “strings 3 words together to communicate”.
We celebrated her birthday with a small group of friends at a local gymnastics studio. It was sooo much fun. The kids ran crazy and had the best time. There were face plants left and right, but the springy floor and padding had them jumping right up and running again in the blink of an eye. Every one had a great time and many parents got a good nights sleep with some worn out little ones.

As I mentioned before we also announced the gender of baby number two. I did not know the gender of the child. Matt was the only person who knew and he did not tell a soul. This agitated some folks, but he kept the gender super secret from when he found out on Monday till Saturday. He filled a box with balloons and we had Margaux open it and that is how Mommy and the rest of the world found out WE ARE HAVING A BOY! It was fun and I was very surprised. So it appears that Margaux is having a baby brother.

Another Beach Success

Well, I personally had not planned to go on a beach trip this year, but my husband had other plans. So we made a pretty late in the game decision to go to Panama City Beach Florida. I haven’t been there since I was in 8th grade. Well, I have to say that I really did enjoy it and they have made the area much more family friendly. We had a great but way too short trip.
Margaux really enjoys the beach and water a lot. We were at the beach right before a tropical storm hit so the water was a bit rough. Margaux got pulled away from me once and I dove on my knees after her. She jumped up and said, “ Let’s do it again Momma!” I was not so excited about a do over. I have never been able to get Margaux to take a nap on the beach but this year she did. She played herself out. She must have worked up an appetite too. Most of the time I have a hard time getting her to eat, but after a morning at the beach when I walked up to the counter at tropical smoothie she said, “I’d like macaroni and a pickle.” After many trips to the pool and the beach I’m proud to say there was no sunburned baby. Daddy on the other hand got roasted.
Margaux  also experienced meeting a parrot. She was not a fan. It would squawk  and she would jump and look really scared. She also rode a carousel for the first time. She has mentioned it everyday since. She’s a HUGE fan.

Water Bug!

Margaux's best friend Sophia will be a big sister in the next few weeks and we got together with her family to celebrate the arrival of baby Lilianna last weekend. Margaux always has a blast with Sophia. The girls really enjoy each other.
In baby news... I find out in July what the sex of our new little one will be. It will be the week of Margaux's birthday so I'm thinking we could tell everyone with either a pink or blue cake that day. We are having a super small party this year. Just family and a small number of the little friends she sees pretty often. I tried the big party last year and I frankly don't want to go through all that trouble again this year. This is probably the last year she doesn't really care about a party or not. So Mommy is going to take advantage.

Here are some pictures I took last weekend of the girls.

Bun in the oven

Well, here’s the big news… I’m pregnant. I am still kind of in shock about the whole thing. NOTHING has been like it was last time with Margaux. First off getting pregnant with Margaux was a breeze and this time took a little bit longer, but by no means complicated. With Margaux I said, “this would be a good time to try. Maybe I guess I should start counting my days? Ooops, wait, I didn’t start my period on time. Awesome… I’m pregnant!” Not this time. I stopped taking my pill in November of last year. I started counting my days. I was like clock work as I’ve always been. Then I figured out my optimum days for conception. I kept a close eye on all the things you should, but tried not to overdo it. Then the end of February, first of March rolled around. I was late, over a week late. I took pregnancy test 1: negative, I took pregnancy test 2: negative, I took pregnancy test 3: negative. Then I got my period. However I did freak a little about the lateness. I asked two of my favorite nurses, my mom and my friend Amelia what might have happened to me? Should I be concerned? My thought, OMG my girl parts are failing me! All I could do to explain the change was the stress of almost losing my grandfather in February.
I decided to get more serious for the upcoming months, since March was shot and all my counting was off because of being so late. I downloaded ovulation tracking apps on my phone. I bought an ovulation detection kit to use during the month of April. I counted and paid close attention to my body during the month of March to get back on track in April. Funny thing was I saw NO signs of ovulation. None. What the heck? I told Matt between last month’s lateness and this month’s weirdness, something is wrong with me. The next morning out of curiosity, days before my cycle was to start. I decided to take a pregnancy test. Dark, Clear, Distinct, No question positive! Huh?!?! I could not believe it. It was on Easter morning and I took it to Matt in the bed and told him the Easter bunny left him something and we both got teary eyed. But it sucked because we were about to see our families and could not tell them because it was way too early.
We’ve now gone to the 10 week appointment and the baby looks good so far. So the word is out to all. The only major pregnancy symptom I’ve had so far is nausea and tired/exhaustion that has recently set in. Baby will be due December 13th, but mommy’s belly is growing much faster than last time. I’m quite shocked at the early pronounced belly. My mother keeps asking if they are sure there is only one in there. “Yes, mom, just one.”

2.28.12 Money

This one is a hard one for me here lately. As I've posted before, I recently started my own law practice. It's been good. I'm making more money, but being a one gal show I can't really handle too large of a case load. I'm at the point where I need some staff. I could have really used it when Margaux was sick and my Grandfather was in the hospital. Maybe not full time staff, but at least part of the time, but that becomes problematic because you need a particular type of worker for a law office. I have a friend that helps me once a week and she is AWESOME, but I need a bit more. So I've been thinking more about making another change. Well, I heard of an opening coming available at the DA's office. I applied and heard nothing and a good friend ended up getting the job and I'm very happy for him. Then I applied for another job I heard that was coming available here in town. It hasn't officially come open yet, but I've been in contact with the main attorney and was just waiting it out. Then... I got a job offer from another attorney who has more cases than his office can handle and they need another attorney. Hum... there's something to consider too. THEN... I got a call from yet another position that was coming open and they are interested in speaking to me about filling the spot. Holy Cow! The main thing I need to think about now is what area of law. All the offers practice in different areas of law. So the main question is, "What kind of law do I want to practice?" Right now I guess I'm sweating over too much. The second of the jobs is a for sure offer. The first one hasn't even begun the interview and application process. And the third one I have an interview about next week. They all are about the same pay only two are steady salary and one is percentage split. Everyone keeps telling me none of them are going to be a bad decision and just to think and decide where I want to focus my efforts. ***Sigh*** could be worse I could have nothing going for me. But then an offer would be easy to decide on.

appreciative

I have had a really rough two weeks. One week Margaux was sick with a nasty virus Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She kept a fever and apparently had a very sore throat. Well she had that up till I came down with it on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and started getting better on Sunday. Then something much worse happened. My Grandfather went to the hospital with congestion. It ended up being pneumonia. Then he started bleeding into his stomach that would not clot. His kidneys shut down, his heart started to fail, and things looked very bad. My family members flew in from Texas and South Carolina. We were making quite a few trips to Nashville to get some time with him. I did a lot of crying and appreciating the fact that I have had a Grandfather as an important part of my life for so long. Prayers were answered because he is improving. His kidney function is back and he is gradually getting better. We still don't know when he can come home, but things look much better than they did last week. He wants us to stay home and let him get some rest now.
It was a nice surprise to have all my cousins together at the same time. It was a scary event that brought us all together, but whenever my Grandfather started improving we were able to visit for a bit. We all went to see my cousin's son play basketball in the district championship game. Unfortunately his team wasn't able to pull through with a win.
cousins left to right: Stacy, Ryan, Kristen, Kelly, Landon, Me and my sister Lindsey
I hope we are all able to get together again sooner for much more pleasant reason. However true to my family there was some very funny things that went on at the hospital. Lots of reprimanding for making my Grandfather laugh. Lots of jokes that weren't in the best taste. Lots of stares at one of the tallest families I think that hospital has ever seen (check out the picture and keep in mind that I'm 6 ft tall). No wonder the man wants us to leave him alone.
